How to Run OpenClaw on Hetzner?
Hetzner offers some of the best price-to-performance VPS plans in the market. Their European data centers (Germany, Finland) provide excellent connectivity, and they recently opened a US East location.
Sign up at hetzner.com and create a Cloud Server (CX22 or higher recommended: 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD for about €4/month). Choose Ubuntu 22.04 and add your SSH key.
Hetzner's cloud console is clean and fast. Once the server is created, SSH in and install OpenClaw. The process is identical to any Linux VPS.
Hetzner stands out for Ollama users: their dedicated servers offer powerful CPUs and optional GPUs at very competitive prices. A dedicated CAX21 (4 ARM cores, 8 GB RAM) runs small local models surprisingly well for about €7/month.
Use Hetzner's Cloud Firewall (free) to restrict inbound traffic. For HTTPS on the Dashboard, set up Caddy or Nginx with automatic Let's Encrypt certificates.
Hetzner is the top recommendation for European users and anyone wanting the most server resources per dollar. Their ARM servers are also excellent for power-efficient 24/7 operation.
ssh root@your-hetzner-ip curl -fsSL https://openclaw.sh/install | bash openclaw onboard
