OpenClaw Install

How to Use OpenClaw with Signal?

Signal integration gives your OpenClaw agent end-to-end encrypted messaging. It's the privacy-focused choice among supported messengers.

OpenClaw connects to Signal via the signal-cli bridge — an open-source tool that provides programmatic access to Signal. You need a phone number dedicated to the bot (a cheap prepaid SIM works).

Install signal-cli on your server, register the phone number, and complete verification. Then pair OpenClaw with Signal using the pair command.

Signal supports: text messages, images, voice notes, group messages, and disappearing messages. All communication is end-to-end encrypted.

Limitations: - Requires a real phone number for the bot - signal-cli is a community project, not officially supported by Signal - Group admin features are limited - No business API or bot platform - Rate limits are stricter than Telegram

Signal integration is ideal for users who prioritize privacy above all else. Combined with a local LLM via Ollama, you get a completely private AI agent where no data ever leaves your infrastructure.

Tip: Use a VoIP number or prepaid SIM for the bot. Keep signal-cli updated — Signal protocol changes can break older versions.

bash
# Install signal-cli first
# Then pair with OpenClaw
openclaw pair signal
# Enter your Signal phone number
